Help with email please

Could someone point me to or clarify for me the steps to set up X10 triggered emails? I am trying to send an email to my gmail account when for example one of my leak detectors is activated, or a garage door is opened. Would like to know how to set up outgoing smtp server, where to store/pull subject line and message text, ect.
I have tried with various email accounts, smtp setting ect. ect.. I must be missing something basic.
I have been using sendEmail via AHP smart macro command line ever since the X10 server shutdown. I was thinking that once set up, PCC might be easier to use for sending emails and texts based on x10 events /triggers.
If I am wrong, then I will just stay with AHP and sendEmail.

I always found setting up SMTP mail to be a bit confusing.
I believe there is info in the manual for setting up your email.
This needs to be done before PCC can send or received any email.
KENRAD had started the task of updating the manual but I'm unsure if that part got done to include Gmail addresses.
I'll post a tutorial today in the Setup And Tutorials section today for email and how to tie it into sending alerts via different triggers.
This will help expand on the info contained in the manual.
