Amazon's Alexa works with PCC!
« on: December 29, 2016, 10:04:04 AM »

While updating PCC I played with an Amazon Dot and Alexa.
I created a free small program for users at Authinx's request. While working on this I quickly discovered sending a PCC user command or any command to PCC was possible. ~:0~
The trick is HA-Bridge a free Java program that interfaces with many possible things.
I had though about creating something similar but this allows many different protocols to be used with Alexa. My creation would perform no where close to what this does. However with it being open source I may look at adding to it in the future (time permitting)
It doesn't mater what version of PCC you have as long as it has command line capabilities and that was added many versions ago. ;>
So how do you get everything working?
The easiest way is to get Alex10 it has the bridge included and will enable simple X10 control.
Play with Alex10 to setup a few batch files so you can get the feel for how it works.
Once you see how Alex10 works substituting an Alex10 batch file for a PCC one is simple
the PCC batch file will simply point to PCC and the command line argument.
So to trigger say the weather the batch file will look similar to this:
Code: [Select]
@ echo off
start C:\"PC Companion"\pccompanion ">Weather?<" 0
