I get a error when I try to startup pc companion it says cannot initialize speech api how do I fix this.

I need a little more info.
What Windows flavor are you attempting to install this to?
What are the PC specs ( memory CPU)?
If this is a new machine with a embedded sound card did you install the factory drivers?

its xp i don't know what the cpu is because its just for the cameras or was when i used ahp i'm not at it right now so i can't look

ok it's old it's a amd athlon 1.67 ghz 768 ram and sound card drivers are installed pc companion  used to load i think  i can't remember if did

Since it is XP you may need the Microsoft Speech SDK 51 with the extra voices

Thanx tuicemen got it to open that download didnt work so j just found it on the net. ok now i am trying to use the x10 video capture card va11a do they work it seems to lock the program up and then i can't do anything from there.

As far as I know they work as long as the machine is a 32 bit and XP or older. I no longer have a machine on which I can test them.
open windows moviemaker and see if it detects it and your able to use it there.
If it fails there as well the va11a is toast.
I'll have a look at the code to make sure it still looks for a capture device.

thanx tuicemen it detects it both in movie maker and pc companion but can't get video in pc companion it just a green screen . I must be doing something wrong do I have to setup pc companion in setup before I setup x10 cameras this is all new to me so please be patient. thanx Dave

Have you checked the PCC tutorial section I believe there is a thread on X10 camera setup.
You need to configure your cameras for them to display properly.

yes i read all that thats what i have be going by and i don't get video. what i meant is there somewhere else i have to setup before i setup the cameras.

No, that is the only place to setup the camera info.
I have a va12a now that appears to be working so If you send me your Mysettings.xml file I'll see if I can weed out the issue.
It is possible Murphy got a wrench into this last build as it wasn't tested with video input as I had nothing that would work at the time.
I may still have a XP laptop around I can test with thought I can't seem to think of where that might be at the moment.

I've marked this as resolved as the latest release seems to have solved the issues
