What can I do Today with my Xcam2 cameras?
« on: June 12, 2014, 10:24:22 AM »

Hello,

I'm new to the forum. I'm lucky finding this forum  8).
I have the Xcam 2 cameras since 2009, working on that time on windows 2000 millenium edition and that PC is not working anymore. The system basically was used very little. I have the VA42A that work directly on a TV. The Xcam2 are currently tested and working conditions are great. I downloaded the AHP recent version to use with the CM19A and work fine with the TM751. My objective here is having the cameras played on my PC with windows XP SP3. I want to use the VA12A with the VA42A. I downloaded the marmitek version of AHP and still can find the software the plays the XCam2 cameras on my PC. I know by that time the softwares Xray vision and Webview were the only ones, a download of these two softwares are not possible.

Please an alternative to test these cameras on my PC.

Please help,

Thanks in advance  :D

There are several softwares that will enable viewing of the cameras on your PC even windows movie maker will work.
However you will need the va12a drivers
PcCompanion will allow you to view as well as control them as will iHouse

Thanks for reply,

VA12A drivers are installed and working according to device manager.

can you help me understand the procedure on PC companion or Ihouse?. I'm not planning any specific automatization , I just want to display and record video only at this time.

Thanks in advance  8)

Both PC Companion (PCC) and ihouse will require an initial setup.
PCC
The PCC manual does cover initial setup as well there is a tutorial I started for this.
Once this is completed you'll need to open the camera page this will pop up a windows capture screen if it detects a camera capture device (va11a, va12a...)
once you set that the camera page opens and you'll need to set up your cameras using the configuration button on the right, this will open a new screen or adding x10 camera addresses etc.

iHouse
there is a setup tips section  on the ihouse forums
However I never used my cameras with ihouse so I'm unsure for the set up procedure but I assume it is the same as adding a x10 device.

Doing a topic search for cameras may turn up more info on either forum. ;>
