Google Home mini
« on: February 05, 2018, 09:21:38 AM »

I picked one of these up mainly just to be sure Alex10 could work with Google Home.
I had it placed in my office and started to enjoy the extra options it had over Alexa.
Since discovering Cortana Home Automation control it is no longer powered up.
I noticed you'll soon be able to use a custom recognition name (attention, wakeup) phrase.
Since I alrady have two Amazon dots I'm wondering where To place this now.
Maybe the kitchen. ::) :`)

I also have 2 Amazon Dots (one in my living room and the other in my basement family room).  I have a Google Home mini and that is in my kitchen.  I find the speaker on the Google device is better (listening to music in the kitchen) but the Amazon device is more useful (i.e. integrated with Alex10 and also Harmony Hub).

I went with sticking it in the kitchen and waited to see how long it would take my wife to see it. About 1/2 hour after she got home she seen it and asked what it was doing there.
I told her it could help her with recipes. So she decided to do the Alexa Super bowl thing and asked how to make a grilled cheese sandwich? (RoFL)
I was surprised by the step by step instructions and how it paused after each step and continued with the next step when asked.
