Beginner guide to integrating X10 and wifi
« on: July 26, 2017, 01:49:47 PM »

Hello, I have just bought a house that came with X10 pool (pump, spa and lighting) controls. I am now learning about X10, bought a new remote and got the system to work, and was wondering if I could integrate it somehow into the home wifi? Any Android or iOS apps or Python/Java/other Linux software or scripts to do that? Obviously some hardware bridge will also be needed, but I do not have permanently running PC so maybe I could use a RaspberryPi? Many thanks to all.

There are at the moment a couple of ways to integrate X10 with Wi-Fi
Since you mentioned a Rasberry PI I assume you have one.
You could get HA-Bridge and install it to that this would give you Wi-Fi Access as well as Alexa control if you have any alexa devices. You would also need the drivers to talk to a X10 interface.
then in the HA-Bridge you add the device and specify the code to send an ON/OFF and Dim commands.
I'm not familiar with Rasberry Pi so but there is lots of info on GitHub for using with one.

Thanks for the reply, HA Bridge seems promising. Any other solutions?

As Brian stated use google there are many pi x10 solutions .
I've been playing lately with a BroadLink Rm Pro which is a small inexpensive RF & IR universal HUB there are Android apps for this which will give you web and Alexa control.
It does learn x10 RF both regular and security codes.
I'm using it with HA-Bridge and some Android apps there is also an Alexa skill which will allow you to voice control AV devices. The skill is very new and still needs work.
