Title: No Market.
Post by: Tuicemen on December 30, 2011, 02:57:00 PM
I reflashed my rom to 004 as I figured it didn't have the market and was right.
I was hoping to help users figure this out!  ::) :`)
Doing a little digging on the net I found market is in Vending .apk
I had hoped that backing up all the apk files would enable me to just install market.
Well it does, however it only gets to the option to create an account and clicking yes or no throws you out.
I also found a recommendation to load the youtube.apk first and log on with it to create a settings file which apearently market looks for on start.
This didn't work either. (cB)
Also tried the suggestion to place market in the system folded haven't tried this yet but did try the vendor apk with no luck. (cB)

Before I flashed my airpad I did notice a Google licence agreement  which isn't on the airpad now so this may be needed.
So far no luck with market. ::) :`)

I went to X10 facebook comments number 39 under:
AirPad 7p: The Best Tablet on the Market for Under $160!
a posting by Steve Elmore worked.

I went to the first link stated and I downloaded the 4 files from the links below the video and installed them in this order without factory reseting my airpad 7p’s.
after each one select “done”
power off unit and restart unit
open Market and setup email account

Order of installation:

1. OneTimeInitializer-signed.apk
2. SetupWizard-signed.apk
3. GoogleServicesFramework-signed.apk
4. com.android.vending-3.3.12.apk
Both airpad 7P's now have android.market

Let me know itf it works for you

Thanks Gjf  (GJ)
I went to  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BrWSC2uiAg&feature=bf_prev&list=LLev6ZS__aR0RJ5lp8ASTWpw&lf=plpp_video
which shows the process but a different order.
I'll try the order you posted and post the results.

I checked the order at the site and I believe I do have the right sequence.

The original files I downloaded from the individual links have different numbers assigned but I renumbered them to the order the video install.

well this gets me a little farther.
it lets me try to log in but then I get an error can't establish a reliable connection.
I'll play a little more maybe a older market will work! ::) :`)

What model airpad are you using?

Also I had to uninstall the Market app that we had tried earlier before installing the 4 new apk's

UpDate: `:) ~:0~ `:)
After doing a factory reset I was able to add market to my AirPad with rom 004 installed.
So this does work!
Now will it work for the AirPad X's  ::) :`)

Now I have a new refurbished 10" airpadX and the 4 apk files we used on the the Airpad 7p don't seem to work on the X.
They will not install.  The market apk will install but still has problem of no account.
When you talk of rom 4 vs rom 2 how do you determine which rom you have??

GJF

PS my new airpad 7p out of box, installed 4 apk's as above and worked fine to Android Market.

If you've never flashed but didn't have market you most likely have rom 003 or 004
I've never see 003 but I assume it didn't have supperuser 001 didn't as well
Also 001 and 002 had market.
The flash utillity will back up your rom. I'm not sure if it will tell you what version it is but it might.
I've since flashed back to 001 as I had thought I was able to get Voice recognition working with a test app and wanted that for TAC.
However some VR programs work but not all and the code I have for VR doesn't work with the AirPad.
At some point I'll root back to 004 as I don't want the game apps that come with 001 or 002.

I'm now at Android 4.0 on my AirpadX.  Got it from Zenithink.com  download link.  My model is 2NC91 (center of model number bar code)
They also have a 3NC91

Now have android market, Amazon Market.
Lost hardwire ethernet port.
Nexflix has no video but it doesn't hang on startup like it did under Airpad OS

some updates on my airpads
took AirpadX back to 2.3.4 from Zenithink seemed to have more with it.  Their 4.0 is a beta
Netflix requires the browser be set to Android versus Ipad under the browser setting window.
All 3 airpad 7p's are running both Amazon and AndroidMarket.
The external sd card is required on the AirpadX,  that's probably why X10 has a ghost one in the Airpad 7p
The sd card doesn't always mount properly after power off.  Must unmount and remount.  Symptom is some games hang or won't start.
Also on the AirpadX I have to shutoff the background sync if I run some Amazon apps.
The wireless wave is Green for Androidmarket and White for Amazon.
Will be buying another 7p with 4.0 so I can try the Androidmarket fix.

With X10 starting to work on a ICS build for the Airpads I decided to see what I could dig up.
There still will be no market  (cB) as well as some other settings (TTS & VR are just a couple  another thread).
Also with info disapearing off the X10 site about unoffical airpad how to get Market posts:
Users may be interested in this:
http://www.pathfindertech.net/how-to-root-the-air-pad-and-then-install-ice-cream-sandwich/
The user claims it gives you all the X10 to be removed apps including Market

I have the7p ICS  :-\ and tried the market fix and it was not successful, (cB) the google services framework will not install. You have a chance to try it out yet? I tried a installing in a different order a few times and no joy. Gonna try restoring to factory config next and try again.

Rant;

(DH) It really irritates me also the customer service w/X10. I called sales before ordering and asked if the airpads had bluetooth because the specs didn't show it she told me she didn't know and told me to hold on, she came back shortly and said "Yes they do" I said "which one", her  "Both of them", me "both the 7" and 10"? her "Yes", me "You're sure about this?" her, (not very happy with me) "YES, I just spoke with my supervisor!". I get the 7p w/ICS and guess what? No bluetooth!  :o NOT!
Tried to call customer service and held for one hour and never talked to a human, >:( Disgusting to say the least. Bluetooth was one of my main requirements. Has anyone heard of any way to get a bluetooth dongle to work? :)`

Done Ranting.

elctlary,
I believe your the first to try this with ICS.
This may prevent me from Updating to ICS if (when) X10 releases the update for the Airpad 7
I know it took several goes before it worked on my original Airpad.
I had to do a factory restore before it took.

Great! I love being the guinea pig ::) I reset to factory (I wonder if the amazon app store was the problem??) and installed in the order given per instruction and it worked! ~:0~ I used my existing google account and it accepted it and I downloaded the Nook app with no prob. I'll continue to experiment and post back here with any problems or successes.

Thanks
Larry

The amazon app store may have been the issue as I also had that installed.
Good to know the procedure works for ICS enabled Airpads as well! `:)

Update, I was having trouble getting some of the google apps to work, maps, and calender sync, mainly. I reset back to factory and reinstalled the four files listed as previously mentioned from the youtube video in the order listed under the video, NOT the order that a previous user had reordered them to and then set up my google account as a exchange account per google's instructions and viola! my accounts all syncronize, Calender, mail, maps, market, latitude, all work fine. My favorite Places on maps will save now and they wouldn't before. I kept getting login errors. I also had to make sure that on google, in my account, 2 step verification was off. I am currently working on getting the pad to recognize a bluetooth dongle so I can use my BT GPS. :0~ Hopefully I can get it woking, (I'm not gonna hold my breath but I don't give up easy. ;D

I noticed over on the X10 site there were still some ppl that were having trouble getting Market to work. Is it more difficult on the tablets that were not ICS? i.e. 2.3

Until Later,
Larry

I think most useres are affraid to flash and atempt to add market because of the warnings.
the instructions here work for even the original Airpads though thouse with roms 001 or 002 already had it on them.
003 and 004 roms did not.
It took me 3 or 4 goes to install on a 004 rom (original pad) and gjf has installed on newer Airpads with out ICS.

Wow great thread. I used the above method, and now have Google Play working!  (latest Airpad 7P, ICS 4.0.3) `:)   Everything synced correctly, and all my paid apps loaded and function properly.  This workaround is SO much easier than reflashing the whole tablet.LOVE having X10 Commander on my new Airpad.
Thanks for the great info!   (NTr)

I have been using x10 Commander on both IOS and Android.  CM19A required.  It works on both platforms. Minor response issues. If anyone is interested in more info please post reply
