Title: Microsoft Security Essentials thinks Alex10 is malicious
Post by: DKBIALIK on December 02, 2017, 12:12:39 PM
Suddenly Alex10 was not working and I found it removed from my pc.  It turns out that Microsoft Security Essentials felt it was malicious and deleted it.  To thwart this I made the Alex10 directory excluded and did a reinstall.

Defender has even stopped Alex10 installs I suspect this is due to the use of scripts.
I've had to add an exclusion for the Alex folder and subfolders as well.
Avast was stopping batch files from executing and quarantining the files.
I suspect all antivirus programs will eventualy do this.
It is a good idea to use the user authorization setting( bridge security) to prevent unauthorized access to the Bridge

I've experience the same thing. Several weeks ago I was able to download Alex10 and was able to view if for several days. Then, I went to view it again as I learn about the program and it was nowhere to be found. I downloaded it again and Windows Defender deleted it before I could do anything with it. So far, I haven't found any work around.

If an antivirus program is causing grief switch. There are plenty free around and many far better then Microsoft.
Many will most likely require that you add the exclusion not to scan Alex10 folders as they see batch files as files that can be malicious.

So thatís why Alex10 disappeared from my laptop.  Alexa app is working on my iPhone and ipad and amazon dot too. Didnít need to add any device so didnít pay much attention to it. Will look further into it and report back.
